
1 ½ pounds ground beef
¾ cup oats (quick or old-fashioned)
½ cup chopped onion or green pepper
½ cup tomato sauce or ketchup
1 egg
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon parsley
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, mixing well. Press mixture firmly into an 8-by 4-inch loaf pan. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes; drain off excess liquid. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Makes 8 servings.
The mixture also may be shaped into 1-inch meatballs.
