
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
½ teaspoon fresh minced ginger root or ½ teaspoon powdered ginger
1 tablespoons dry white wine or apple juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 ½ pounds beef top round steak
Combine oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger root and wine; pour over meat that has been placed in a glass dish. Marinate at room temperature for 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
Remove meat; drain marinade. Bake on broiler rack in 475-degree oven for 12 minutes on each side, if over 1-inch thick; 7 to 10 minutes on each side, if it is thinner. Server hor or cold in ¼-inch slices with stir-fry vegetables or in lettuce salad.
