Basic White Sauce

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter 

2 tablespoons flour

⅛ teaspoon salt

⅛ teaspoon pepper

1 cup milk

Directions

Melt butter in heavy saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Remove from heat. Gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Simmer for 1 minute.
