
2 ½ cups Rice Chex cereal, crushed to 1 cup
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ cup butter or margarine
1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
Choice of ice cream, whipped cream or cream topping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8-inch square baking pan. Stir together crushed cereal, flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half of crumb mixture into pan. Spread cherry filling evenly over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture evenly over top. Bake about 40 minutes or until crumbs are lightly browned. Cool 15 minutes before serving. Spoon into dessert dishes and top as desired. Makes 6 servings.
