Date and Pecan Meringue Squares

Ingredients

3 egg whites

1 cup sugar

1 cup finely chopped dates

1 cup chopped pecans

⅛ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup whipped cream

Directions

Beat egg whites until stiff. Gradually add sugar. Beat until sugar is dissolved. Fold in dates, pecans, salt and vanilla. Turn into buttered 8-inch-square pan. Bake in 350-degree oven for about 45 minutes. Cool. Cut into squares. Serve with whipped cream.
