Fanny Farmer Fudge

Ingredients

½ cup butter

1 can (regular size) evaporated milk

4 ½ cups sugar

1 package (12 ounces) chocolate chips

1 jar marshmallow creme

1 cup nut meats

Vanilla or a little mint flavor

Directions

Boil butter, evaporated milk and sugar for 10 minutes, stirring constantly (start timing after mixture starts boiling). Add chocolate chips, marshmallow creme, nuts and choice of flavoring (if using mint, I sometimes use mint-flavored chips). Pour into a butterer pan. This is a never-fail fudge. I like to beat mine a while until it loses some gloss before pouring it into the pan. You can substitute marshmallows if you don’t have the creme. Makes 5 pounds.
