Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

3 cups oatmeal

6 cups boiling water

¾ cup molasses

¾ cup sugar

3 Tbls salt

1 ½ Tbls shortening

3 pkg yeast, softened in ¾ cup water

15 cups flour

Directions

Pour boiling water over first 6 ingredients and let cool.

Add yeast to cooled mixture.

Add flour and knead on floured bread board. Put in greased bowl, cover with wax paper. Let rest till double. (about 1 ½ hours) Punch down and let rise again. Put in greased loaf pans or make biscuits. Let rise. Cover with a towel.

About 4 long loaves. (1 ½# size)

And 1 pan biscuits (dozen)

Bake at 375 about 30-35 minutes.
