Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

½ cup granulated sugar

⅓ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, softened

½ cup peanut butter

½ teaspoon vanilla

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup quick-cooking or regular oats

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Heat oven to 350. Beat sugars, margarine, peanut butter, vanilla and egg in medium bowl with wooden spoon until creamy and well blended. Mix in flour, oats, baking soda and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. About 2 dozen cookies.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Bars:

Grease bottom of square pan, 9x9x2 inches. Prepare as directed - except spread dough in pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into 2 x 1-inch bars. 36 bars.

High Altitude Directions (3500 to 6500 feet): for cookies, decrease baking soda to ½ teaspoon; bake 13 to 15 minutes. For bars, decrease baking soda to ½ teaspoon; bake 29 to 34 minutes.
